Against the Grain brings together three panellists who dared to change the status quo and as a result have absolutely flourished in their fields.

While they bring a diverse range of experiences, each are connected by their courage to be the change they wanted to see in their industry.

Over the course of one evening, we’ll share stories of bravery, reflect on the moments that shaped their careers, and gain insights into how to build the confidence to go against the grain.

If the phrase “because it’s always been done that way” grinds your gears, this event is for you.

You’ll walk in welcomed by a room full of courage, support and stories, and we hope you walk away feeling empowered to be the change you want to see.

Speakers

Nalina Tran

Speaker

Nalina Tran takes pride in being unapologetically colourful and fully expressed, in the meeting room, (and especially on the dance floor). A film producer, event host, and coach, she helps women leaders turn storytelling and speaking into second nature, on camera, on stage, and in everyday communication.

Raised in the coastal town of Cam Ranh, Vietnam, she moved to Sydney in 2010 carrying curiosity, ambition, and a lived experience of straddling two cultures. That experience is now her superpower, and she invites every woman she works with to celebrate their own.

Working across the creative industry with women from all walks of life, Nalina keeps seeing the same pattern: immense expertise and resilience, held back by cultural conditioning and challenges. Coming from that same demographic, she coaches from first-hand experience, backed by 10 years working with Australia’s biggest media companies and broadcasters, including News Corp, SBS, and ABC.

On stage, she’s known for wit, presence, and dangerously quick banter. Off stage, she helps women and CALD professionals turn their lived experience and cultural perspectives into authority, clarity, and confidence.

Her goal is simple: every woman she works with and every brand she represents leaves stronger, sharper, and more herself, spice included. And they have fun getting there.

Rose Cocchiaro

Speaker

Rose Cocchiaro is the Founder and Executive Director of Resolve Divorce, and one of South Australia’s leading voices in modern family law. An Accredited Specialist in Family Law, Rose has built her career on a simple conviction: families deserve better than the traditional, adversarial approach to separation.

Rose established Resolve to redefine what family law could be. Strategic, human, and anchored in clarity rather than conflict. Under her leadership, the firm has grown into a recognised category leader, combining accredited legal expertise with deep insight into people, behaviour, and complex family dynamics.

After witnessing the profound impact Resolve had on women navigating life’s biggest transitions, Rose founded Rise to support women beyond the legal journey and into their personal and professional growth.

Rise is for women in motion. Women who want more. Who dare to ask bigger questions, who are unafraid to disrupt the status quo, and who are ready to rewrite the rules on their own terms.

Through fearless conversations, curated experiences, and a powerful community, we equip ambitious women with the clarity, confidence, and courage to rise and thrive at every stage of life.
